The world's largest radio telescope, in China's Guizhou Province, has been completed.
Taking five years and $180 million to build, the 'Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope' - or FAST - will now undergo a series of software trials.
Located in a natural basin in Guizhou, FAST will be used to explore the universe and search for signs of extraterrestial life.
Subject to trials, it should be operational by the end of 2016.
The telescope is one third bigger than the previous largest telescope, located in Puerto Rico.
