It's VisitBritain week on sino.uk - everyday we've been revealing some fascinating information about Chinese visitors to the UK, as well as talking to representatives of the tourism organisation, and considering how British businesses could benefit from learning more about their guests.
Yesterday, we reported the excellent news that VisitBritain's research shows forward bookings from China to the UK have increased by nearly one quarter.
Today, we're revealing how you and your business can be prepared for more Chinese visitors by becoming 'China-ready.'
VisitBritain runs a GREAT China Welcome Programme – at its centre is the GREAT China Welcome directory. It lists more than 300 businesses including hotels, attractions, retailers and tour operators that are making themselves ‘China-ready.’
They've done that in a number of ways, for example by providing information in Mandarin or Cantonese, and adapting their products for the Chinese market and culture.
According to VisitBritain, a business can apply to become a member of the GREAT China Welcome Charter by providing one or more of the following offerings to Chinese guests:
These are all very sensible steps to follow if you'd like to welcome more Chinese visitors, regardless of the size of your business.
