Female biker declared national hero

A Female Biker has come out on top in a search to find the nation’s ‘Biking Hero’.

Karen Neill, a motorcyclist from Tottenham, was nominated by Anton Shelupanov for her amazing work giving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to gain work experience at her motorcycle garage, Zenith Motorcycles - the hub to North London’s motorcycle community.

Karen has also participated in many charity functions which have benefitted good causes enormously to the tune of over £50,000. The community champion has encouraged dozens of women to take up motorcycling, campaigned tirelessly against motorcycle theft and carried out amazing work in road safety education, providing advice for hundreds of North London riders.

The competition, launched by leading motorbike insurance broker, Carole Nash, in partnership with Motorcycle News, searched for a biker who was supportive within their local community and went the extra mile in the form of charity work.

Winning a grand total of £1000 in prize money, Karen pipped two other noble individuals to the post; Talan Skeels-Piggins and Steven Quintus (who finished second and third respectively). This was decided upon by the public who whittled down the nominations, with Karen being announced as the overall winner of the competition.

On the 18th of November, the top three finalists were invited to the Motorcycle Live Show at the NEC in Birmingham, where Karen was presented with the Carole Nash Biking Hero 2017 trophy, and a cheque for £1000.

Rebecca Donohue, Head of Marketing at Carole Nash said:

“We were thrilled with all of the outstanding entries we have had for our Biking Hero awards for 2017. We wanted to reward the amazing biking community for the hard work they do – from fundraising for charity to individuals who give something back to their towns.

“The public must have had a tough time choosing a winner but Karen’s entry particularly stood out. She was a very worthy of the Biking Hero 2017 title”.
