Children and teenagers think buying property is ‘child’s play’.

New survey reveals hilarious ignorance among children and teenagers over what it really takes to buy a house or flat. One in ten people aged 18-21 think stamp duty is money to pay for stamps. A fifth of 11-14 year olds think you can borrow as much as you want. A third of 11-14 year olds think their parents will give them money to buy a property.

Parents are being urged to make sure their children understand what’s involved in one of the biggest financial  decisions we’ll ever have to make. Children and teenagers may put their parents to shame when it comes to digital skills, but they need to get to grips with managing their money and understanding some of the key stages in the home buying process.

To discuss the research is Dick & Dom, who gave Dave the inside scoop on what we need to know
